2022 Award of ExcellenceOver the past 26 years, Floor Covering News has presented the coveted Award of Excellence to the most deserving flooring manufacturers. These awards have become the industry benchmark of supplier excellence since they are voted on by you—their customers. The idea is to give retailers a chance to acknowledge those manufacturers that are doing the most to make you successful in your businesses.

Once again, we are asking floor covering retailers to cast their votes in the 2022 Award of Excellence competition. We want to acknowledge those suppliers that have stepped up for you in the midst of a pandemic. Which have maintained their service levels? Which have supplied you with the tools to succeed—product or otherwise—over these last 12 to 18 months? Which have been your best partners?

This year is especially important. Here’s why: We have updated the competition to reflect the evolution of the floor covering market. As one would expect, Shaw and Mohawk have been dominating the top categories for the last 20 years. So this year you will vote for Shaw and Mohawk in the Best Overall category by casting votes for either company in a number of categories, like product innovation, service, digital tools, on-time delivery, etc. At the same time, instead of voting for Shaw or Mohawk in the respective product categories, retailers will be able to vote for their sub-brands, be it COREtec, Karastan, Pergo, Anderson Tuftex, Philadelphia, Aladdin, etc. The exception is the Resilient-Rigid Core category, where retailers vote for specific products such as Mohawk SolidTech and Shaw Floorté.

The second change is reflected in the Hardwood category, which is now divided into four sections by region of origin: domestic, Canada, Asia and Europe/South America. Finally, there is a “second best overall” competition where retailers write in their top supplier other than Shaw or Mohawk.

The survey is very simple and takes no more than two minutes. Votes should be based on the following criteria: service, professionalism of sales force, management responsiveness, value, style and design, handling of claims, ease of doing business in the respective product categories and, again, going above and beyond during a pandemic. Just pick one supplier in each category. They’re all listed. Just check the appropriate boxes.
