Orlando, Fla.—FCNews is here for the start of the 2024 Alliance Flooring convention – “The Next Generation.” The main topic at this year’s convention will be the continued rollout of Perfect Home, the group’s retail selling solution and technology platform that is drawing strong early reviews and keen interest.

A case in point is Eric Langan, president/owner of Carpetland USA, with nine locations in Iowa and Illinois. Langan is attending his first convention in seven years, in large part to see the new selling system “up close and in person.”

The Alliance Flooring convention kicked off Sunday evening with a reception at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, with suppliers and Alliance retailers getting together.

The 2024 Alliance Flooring convention is themed “the Next Generation,” and that would include new vendor partners such as International Flooring Company (IFC), which will be providing SPC and WPC products as part of Alliance’s Perfect Home selling and merchandising system.

Here, Julian Dossche (center), CEO of IFC, discusses matters with Jon Cantor (left) and Don Cantor of Lake Interiors, Chelan, Wash., during the vendor trade show.

Much of the focus at convention was about Perfect Home, which has been distributed to 50 retailers (carpet only), with another 50 expected to sign up during the three-day convention in Orlando.  The hard surface component of Perfect Home is expected to ship in the late May/early June time frame.

Getting an early look at the hard surface products is Eric Buehler of CarpetsPlus Colortile, Thayne, Wyo., and Claire McCoy of Rugs, Rolls ‘n’ More, Plaistow, N.H.

Alliance Flooring presented the Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) with a check for $15,000, pledging its support for the association as it tackles the installation crisis. In receiving the check, FCEF executive director, Jim Aaron, thanked Alliance retail members for choosing FCEF as its charity partner for the convention. “[Alliance Flooring’s] commitment to our cause will help us to continue making lasting impacts on the installation labor crisis that impacts the entire industry,” Aaron said.

During Tuesday’s breakout sessions, Aaron will speak to Alliance Flooring retailers about the progress FCEF has made and the need for the industry’s ongoing efforts to work collaboratively on securing the next generation of installers. “There is no long-term success in this industry without a healthy installation labor pool and that’s why we’re excited to support FCEF,” said Ryan Dunn, co-president and CEO of Alliance Flooring.
