Rockville, Md.—The Floor Covering Institute (FCI) has named Brian Beakler its new president. Previously, Beakler spent 13 years in executive positions at Armstrong Flooring and AHF Products including the position of senior manager of innovation. Beakler succeeds Dominic Rice who recently became Chicago Faucets’ president and CEO.

“Brian is a recognized leader in the industry and comes on board with significant technical knowledge focused in wood, resilient and hybrid flooring,” said Jim Gould, FCI founder. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

Beakler received his undergraduate, Masters and Doctorate degrees from Pennsylvania State University’s School of Forest Resources before joining Armstrong Flooring. Later he started his own firm, Beakler Consulting Services, LLC, in early 2019.

Beakler chaired the board of the Hardwood Plywood and Veneer Association and its successor Decorative Hardwood Association and has been involved in other industry organizations and associations. A prolific writer, he has provided numerous research articles to the Forest Products Journal and Hardwood Floors Magazine and owns several industry patents.

The Floor Covering Institute is an independent consultancy dedicated to serving the international floor covering industry. Associates include Brian Beakler, Mitch Dancik, Jim Gould, Stuart Hirschhorn, Lew Migliore, Donato Pompo, Chris Ramey, Ruud Steenvoorden and Christine Whittemore.
