Americans love their pets as evidenced by the findings of a National Pet Owners survey showing that 70% of U.S. households, or about 90.5 million families, own a pet. What’s more, 95% of those homeowners consider their pet a member of the family. With that in mind, carpet mills have been busy developing best-in-class products with pet protection—products that offer protection against accidents without compromising on aesthetics or durability.
Here are some recent introductions:

MARQUIS: SWEET EMOTION
Marquis solution-dyed carpets provide outstanding stain and soil protection as well as exceptional texture retention. An example of this is Sweet Emotion, a new introduction offering the ultimate in pet and stain protection, as well as lifetime pet and stain warranty.
TARKETT HOME: CLOUD 9
Cloud 9, Tarkett Home’s innovative new carpet fiber, exists to help thriving families—and their pets—create comfortable sanctuaries in the spaces where they rest and relax. Cloud 9 is a fiber that comes with Tarkett Home’s promise to provide affordable, beautiful, luxuriously soft flooring that stands the test of time. Cloud 9 is a solution-dyed polyester yarn with a natural resistance to staining and fading without compromising on softness. The collection includes 11 new products.
SOUTHWIND: FASHION
Southwind’s new Fashion collection of products are designed to withstand the foot traffic and unfortunate accidents that come along with pet ownership. The goal of this collection is to have customers love their floor as much as their pets; as such, Southwind is offering 13 sharply designed MLCL, tip shears and loop products at affordable prices.
KARASTAN: PEACEFUL TRACERY
As a leading luxury flooring brand for more than 90 years, Karastan is reinvigorating its soft surface portfolio in 2023 with new SmartStrand and wool products as well as introducing an expanded assortment of Kashmere styles with All Pet Protection & Warranty. A new patterned style that combines the best attributes of Kashmere nylon and Triexta, Peaceful Tracery was designed with livability, inspiration and comfort in mind.
MOHAWK: SMARTSTRAND LUXURIANT LIFE
Featured on the new SmartStrand Color Wall, Luxuriant Life is one of the line’s popular 2023 intros. Providing exceptional attributes, Luxuriant Life is enhanced with superior color, softness and durability. Additionally, Luxuriant Life is backed by Mohawk’s All Pet Protection & Warranty. If a pet stains it, Mohawk will replace it. With styles like Luxuriant Life, the SmartStrand Color Wall is set to help bring shoppers back to carpet.
MASLAND: ENVISIONSD PET SOLUTIONS
New for 2023, Lineage joins the EnVisionSD Pet Solutions family. Designed to complement Masland’s Pedigree collection, Lineage is meant to be enjoyed by the entire family—pets included. The proprietary yarn system utilizes the highest-quality UV stabilized SD Supersoft Nylon, offering exceptional performance while maintaining a silky soft hand. San Simon is a modern and simplistic grid hand-carved to perfection with a pin-dot accent. It is also pet and child friendly.
PHENIX: FLOOREVER PETPLUS
FloorEver PetPlus carpet from Phenix features solution-dyed fibers, is pet friendly and has exceptional protection and durability.
