HomeCOVID-19RD Weis unveils Circle of Health disinfection program

Elmsford, N.Y.—New York-based flooring provider RD Weis has launched the Circle of Health disinfection program to assist facilities in creating an ongoing, proactive disinfection plan to maintain a clean, safe, healthy environment.

The program comprises a wall-to-wall disinfection, carpet care, panel and upholstery sanitization and bathroom tile and grout restoration to be completed prior to reopening and on a regular basis to ensure maximum protection for employees and customers.

“There are hundreds of products out there claiming to be effective against the coronavirus,” said Randy Weis, president of RD Weis. “The products used should be hospital grade disinfectants listed on the EPA ‘N’ list, that meet the CDC/EPA efficacy requirement against COVID-19, that is, they kill 99.999% of bacteria and viruses on contact and are safe in all environments and on all surfaces.”

Disinfection

Electrostatic spraying/fogging for disinfection, RD Weis said, is a simple, yet effective solution. This method uses a compressor to deliver an accurate amount of chemistry to non-porous surfaces for the proper dwell time. Targeted disinfection should cover every inch of your space including desks, partitions, phones, computers, cafeteria and kitchen areas, elevator controls and lobby entrances.

For carpet care, an EPA Safer Choice product is applied to the carpet. Once it dries, the carpet is vacuumed, removing dirt, germs and odor sources leaving the fibers clean, dry and odor-free.

In addition to targeted disinfection on those surfaces that an infected person would touch in bathrooms—especially faucets, toilet seats, toilet partitions, towel and toilet paper dispensers—tile and grout should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

“There are many issues that need to be addressed prior to reopening during this uncertain time,” Weis said. “Any decisions should be based on accurate and reliable information. As things change on a daily basis, you should continuously check for updates from reputable sources.”

The Circle of Health disinfection program is ideal for a variety of environments including schools, healthcare facilities, corporate offices, airports and transportation centers, restaurants, retail establishments, gyms, museums, conference centers, utility companies and EMS facilities, according to RD Weis.
