Widely used in Catalonia, the bóveda (vault) is one of the most elegant structural supports in the design world. Using both the characteristic terracotta orange and vault curves, a series of connected ceramic tiles make up the display units, giving each shoe design its own individual space. Although Camper’s largely unadorned shop may help individual shoe designs stand out, for a Tile Addict the focus can hardly be drawn from the stunning curves.

Personally I love hand-molded, hand painted, terracotta tiles and I have seen so many images where they just look fabulous, but a traditional terracotta tile is not something that would look good in my swanky little contemporary monochromatic cool-colored condo and they are pricey considering the value of my property. Terrazzo with a twist was a very big trend last year (link to article), with multiple designs creating a vast range in materials, colours, and finishes. But it is, perhaps, a look that interior designers believe can get tired quickly (especially in residential spaces) so perhaps an updated use of terrazzo is simply what is needed, rather than throwing it out all together.
