HomeNewsInterface debuts Together by Design series

Atlanta, Ga.— Launching alongside NeoConnect 2020, Interface debuted “Together by Design,” a series of online resources and events providing architects and interior designers with the opportunity to connect and access innovative content throughout June.

The series includes:

  • Inspired by Design: Product and interior design inspiration, including a preview of Interface’s recently launched and upcoming carpet tile collections
  • Connected by Design: Designer profiles, insights and videos
  • Lead by Design: Content and educational sessions, including webinars, thought leadership panels and the Interface Adaptation series that highlights key learnings brought forward during the pandemic, especially in teaching the world about honoring the evolving needs of the Earth
  • Uplifted by Design: Entertaining and inspiring interactive events including demonstrations, happy hours and more, inspired by the engaging nature of NeoCon.

“As our industry continues to move forward, community engagement and discussions remain critical in identifying how the built environment must evolve to support occupant health and well-being as well as design trends,” said Anna Webb, vice president of marketing at Interface. “With NeoConnect 2020 and the launch of Together by Design, we highlight how the design community can continue to thrive despite obstacles. We know this time of the year is reserved for the community coming together for inspiration and celebration, and we hope to bring a semblance of the usual NeoCon spirit with our virtual events.”

New Carpet Tile Collections

Together by Design will give a sneak preview of two carpet tile collections inspired by the art of design and conceived by David Oakey of David Oakey Designs.

Thread Story is said to celebrate weaving as an art form as well as the beauty and handcrafted nature of woven textiles. The collection features six plank carpet tile styles in 16 coordinating colorways, encompassing timeless woven techniques and Bauhaus-inspired graphic patterns. As the texture and scale of pattern increases within the collection, so does the use of color, ranging from low contrast neutrals to higher contrast blended neutrals, and fresh but muted color.

“When developing the patterns and color palettes for Thread Story, we struck a balance between past and future,” Oakey explained. “The resurgence of interest in contemporary handcraft using unexpected materials and genuine sustainable philosophies inspired the collection. We studied craftsmanship designed with attention to intricate details seen in design weaves of the past. All this coincided with the 100th anniversary of women weaving in the Bauhaus workshop.”

Interface will also highlight Field Work, a carpet tile collection encompassing a classic mix of patterns in planks and squares. These options are designed and priced to meet the needs of a hard-working field carpet and respond to workplace pattern, texture and color trends. This collection includes a range of organic and geometric patterns, i2 mergeable dye lots as well as a palette of warm and cool neutrals based on the company’s best-selling colors.

Thread Story and Field Work carpet tile are made with recycled nylon and are carbon neutral across their full product life cycle as part of the company’s Carbon Neutral Floors program.

Interface Adaptation Series

As a component of Lead by Design, Interface will host a three-part educational series that highlights expert panelists on key learnings from COVID-19 and the positive implications on the world, the industry and individuals. The episodes—taking place June 18, June 22 and June 25—will feature Interface and third-party subject-matter experts Paul Hawken, founder of Project Drawdown, and Janine Benyus, co-founder of Biomimicry 3.8.
