Skanska Books Additional Order for Rebuilding New York City’s Rockaway Beach Boardwalk

Skanska has booked an additional order for its ongoing project with Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to rebuild the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk in New York City, USA.

Skanska will include this latest incremental installment, USD 63 M, about SEK 530 M, in the order bookings for Skanska USA Building for the fourth quarter of 2015.

In 2014, Skanska began rebuilding the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk, which was damaged during Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. The team has successfully completed the first two phases of the project, which re-opened to the public on Memorial Day weekend and Fourth of July weekend of this year, respectively.

NYCEDC is managing the project on behalf of New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

The project is expected to be completed in spring 2017.

Skanska USA is one of the leading development and construction companies in the country, consisting of four business units: Skanska USA Building, which specializes in building construction; Skanska USA Civil, specialized in civil infrastructure; Skanska Infrastructure Development North America, which develops public-private partnerships; and Skanska USA Commercial Development, which develops commercial projects in select U.S. markets. Headquartered in New York, Skanska USA has more than 9,600 employees and its 2014 revenues were SEK 43.5 billion.
