Charleston, S.C.—Flooring distributor William M. Bird announced a change to its agreement with Somerset Hardwood Flooring. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, Bird will be the single distributor of the entire Somerset line in middle and eastern Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Previously, this change was set to occur on March 31, 2021. Bird will assume single distribution service in South Carolina and most of North Carolina on April 1, 2021, as formerly announced. The company will also continue to represent the Somerset brand in Virginia and remaining North Carolina markets.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to provide Somerset Hardwood Flooring through single distribution for most of our territory,” said Gene Corvino, president of William M. Bird. “We greatly value our partnership with Somerset and are proud to represent their quality hardwood products. With the service date moving up to the first of January, our sales team has an even greater energy and enthusiasm to deliver exceptional results for our customers in 2021 and beyond.”

John Allen, VP of sales for William M. Bird, added that the company is honored to have a preferred partnership and aligned goals with Somerset Hardwood. “Our entire organization is fully prepared to provide an even higher level of customer service, including increased inventory, to our Somerset customers,” he said. “We look forward to cultivating new Somerset partnerships, as well as further developing profitability for our existing Somerset relationships in 2021.”

Paul Stringer, VP of sales & marketing for Somerset Hardwood Flooring, said the company is excited to grow its partnership with William M. Bird and looks forward to a strong relationship as it continues to plan for mutual growth. “Both Somerset and Bird have a long history of performance, and we expect great things from William M. Bird going forward,” he said.

In addition to obtaining single distribution, William M. Bird recently launched an exclusive new engineered hardwood collection from Somerset Hardwood Flooring named American Harvest. The new collection of quality, value-priced hardwood will be sold exclusively to Bird flooring retailers.
