HomeNewsTarkett implements INSTALL's carpet standards

certificationWashington, D.C.—INSTALL, the North American leader in floor covering installation training and certification, and Tarkett have joined forces to advance and drive industry standards for excellence in carpet floor covering installation, the companies said. Tarkett is integrating INSTALL’s installation carpet certification standards into its master specifications.

Install and Tarkett said they have a long history of investing in professional development and changing the way the floor covering industry thinks about installation standards. “Tarkett has partnered with INSTALL on several initiatives over the years and this is a true testament to the brand’s commitment to improving installation standards,” said John T. McGrath Jr., executive director of INSTALL.

Superior quality assurance

Tarkett’s new specification language will take effect immediately, according to the company. It reads as follows:

Installation Qualification: Contractors for floor covering installations should be experienced in managing commercial flooring projects and provide professional installers, qualified to install the various flooring materials specified. An installer is “qualified” if trained or certified by Tarkett or a certified INSTALL carpet installer.

“Install is a pioneer in the floor covering industry,” said Don Styka, director of field services at Tarkett. “Its apprenticeship program, continuing education and curriculum are the most comprehensive in the industry. That is why Tarkett chose to implement carpet certification standard language into our master specification. The use of qualified installers directly impacts our customers in a positive way—ensuring product longevity, eliminating costly and frustrating claims and meeting our customer’s expectations.”
