LP Building Products Introduces New LP SolidStart Design Software

LP Building Products recently launched their new LP® SolidStart™ Design software, a single-member sizing solution that allows users to size floor and roof joists, beams, columns and studs.

Interactive User Interface: LP SolidStart Design features an interactive interface that allows users to make changes directly in the member graphic. Users are able to manipulate and change depth and length, add or change supports, and add holes all with the click of a mouse. All editable user inputs are visible on one screen, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between different input screens. Because LP SolidStart Design software is intuitive to learn and easy to use, designing with LP EWP products is more efficient and cost effective.

Dynamic Design: The interactive user interface is combined with features that give LP EWP designers greater flexibility and control. These features include the ability to design different hole sizes in joists and beams and identify the shear and moment at any location along the member. The software also offers the convenience of custom deflection criteria, both live and total, as well as custom load duration factors for any live load. All the settings for joist, beam, wall-stud and column designs can be saved for reuse, saving time on future projects.

Job Management: “Jobs” can include one or more designs. You can even organize the designs by level(s) in a “tree” structure. The job tree allows some or all of the joists, beams, wall-studs and columns in a level or the entire tree to be redesigned and/or printed. With the ability to set costs and prices for each product the user can also generate a material quote.

LP SolidStart Design combines an interactive user interface with sophisticated design tools and the flexibility and efficiency of the job tree to help make LP EWP products the right choice for your next job.

“This new LP SolidStart Design software reflects LP’s commitment to digital innovation,” said Lisa Reese, EWP Segment Marketing Associate for LP Building Products. “This software will make planning projects more interactive and efficient for LP customers.”

Currently LP SolidStart Design supports the U.S., Allowable Stress Design (ASD), design criteria. Future releases will include Canadian, Limit States Design (LSD), design criteria. Future releases will support imperial and metric units and will also be offered in both English and French.
