WorkingBuildings’ Corporate Office in Atlanta Receives LEED Platinum Certification

The WorkingBuildings Group of Companies received LEED PLATINUM for Commercial Interiors for their corporate office in Atlanta, Georgia.

WorkingBuildings was able to achieve this highest-level certification by using a number of sustainable practices. They were able to minimize material use and diverted over 75% of construction waste materials from landfills. They implemented measures to reduce water and energy use by 35% over typical offices such as replacing bathroom fixtures with new, more water-efficient fixtures and installing new overhead lighting LED task lighting. Interior materials were carefully selected to enhance the indoor air quality such as the purchase of Green Label Plus carpet tiles and GREENGUARD certified office furniture.

"The sustainability team was able to guide us to achieve the highest LEED certification on a very tight budget. I'm very proud that we have demonstrated it is possible to be both economical and sustainably focused," said John McFarland, one of the Principals of WorkingBuildings.

The office also shares a space with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Georgia Chapter.

On February 3, Beth Cope, the new Director of USGBC Georgia came to personally present WorkingBuildings its LEED Platinum plaque.

"Our company wanted an office space that reflects the practices and environmental policies that we offer as services," said McFarland. "We're very proud of our sustainability team."
