Skanska Selected to Build Orkla’s New Norwegian Headquarter

Skanska has signed a contract to build Orkla’s new headquarter in Oslo, Norway. The client is Drammensveien 149 Nybygg, a wholly owned subsidiary of Orkla Eiendom. The contract is worth NOK 530M, about SEK 520M, which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Norway for the second quarter 2016. The project consists of an office building with 19,500 square meters of usable floor area, 1,600 square meters of apartments and a parking garage. The main building will consist of seven stories with an additional 16-story high tower.

The project has high environmental ambitions and will upon completion be certified according to BREEAM NOR Excellent. The building will be very energy efficient, partly thanks to its own solar plant on the roof. Centrally located on Skøyen – one of Oslo's main hubs – the project will have few parking spaces, but 630 bicycle spaces.

Construction will start in October 2016. The office part of the project will be completed at the latest in October 2018, while the apartments will be ready for occupancy in December 2018.

Skanska Norway focuses on construction and civil engineering operations. The unit has approximately 4,000 employees. In 2015, Skanska Norway reported revenue of about SEK 12 billion. In Norway, Skanska is also active in development of residential, commercial properties and public private partnerships (PPP) projects.
