Mapei expands its global presence with three recent acquisitions

The Mapei Group, which currently has 102 subsidiaries present in 57 countries across all five continents, pursues a strategy of geographical diversification in order to meet the specific needs of each market.

As part of its efforts to further expand its global footprint, the Group recently acquired a 15,000 square metre factory in Vejen, Jutland, Denmark, which will house new offices, a warehouse and a plant for the production of concrete admixtures. These additional resources will enable Mapei Denmark to meet the growing demand in the country’s construction industry and establish itself as a leading player in the Danish market, while at the same time reducing its transportation-related carbon footprint.

In early February, Mapei completed the acquisition of Diaplas, a company specialising in the production of profiles and trims for floors and walls based in Laval, Quebec. The acquisition was conducted through the subsidiary Mapei Canada (Mapei Inc.). This investment aligns with Mapei’s strategic vision of delivering complete building solutions, thereby expanding its product portfolio and enhancing its offerings in the Canadian market.

Finally, Mapei has further strengthened its presence in the Middle East through the acquisition of Bitumat, a leading manufacturer and distributor of waterproofing systems based in Dammam on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. The acquisition, from the Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC), includes Bitumat’s main facility covering more than 100,000 square metres in Dammam, a manufacturing unit in nearby Bahrain, as well as offices and warehouses in the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah and sales offices in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
