When the dust cleared and all the numbers were counted and run through the wash multiple times, total industry sales in 2021 reached a record $26.701 billion, an enormous gain of 16.3% Note: These numbers are in wholesale dollars reflecting the first point of sale. in volume in 2016; and 4.4% from 2020’s $22.951 billion.
