The awards are divided into three categories: Architecture, Interior Design and Final Degree Project, with prizes totalling €39,000. ASCER (the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association) has announced the eighteenth edition of its Tile of Spain Awards of Architecture, Interior Design and Final Degree Project.

After graduating with a degree in architecture from the University of Tokyo, Kengo Kuma completed a two-year postgraduate program as a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York, before returning to Tokyo to complete his Ph.D. Kengo Kuma was also made an Officier de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 2009.

Tenement House on the Edge of a Park was an interior design project by Loft Kolasinski , completed in 2016. Lighting elements are sourced from Poland, France, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The original Tenement building, built on an edge of a park in Szczecin, Poland, was completed in 1907.

While most of the judges are not architecturally trained, even they could spot a design that had scale issues. We both work at large architectural practices on international projects, but enjoy the challenge of designing small, community-based projects. I enjoy all kinds of architectural competitions, be it large or small.

The home Murphy Brothers built, with Crozier Gedney Architects , is a perfect example of the kind of architecture that doesn’t work as well with solar panels: It’s built in a coastal colonial style, with not just one or two planes making up the roof, but at least seven. That could truly influence our architectural vocabulary.”
