This new collection, created by artists Guillermo Gomez Lama and Tania Marmolejo, boasts eight different designs, each presented with three color options. As a visual artist, graphic designer, paper lover and one who is obsessed with patterns and the production process, Guillermo began his art studies at UMASS Amherst in Boston.

What is encaustic painting? Encaustic painting involves beeswax, resin and pigments in varying combinations. One of my paintings, SurfAcing, 2014 12″X12″ Encaustic mixed media on wood boards. Encaustic painting predates oil painting and was used to create portraits on mummy casings dating back to 100BC in Egypt.

When owners- let’s call them Bob and Betty- came to see me, they had certain colors in mind already, but they were open to anything. After observing the color of the hardwood floors and the mantle, the owners and I came up with a color scheme. It was my “ah-ha” moment! Mid-Installation.

My bathroom was pink, which my parents thought was an appropriate color for a girl’s bathroom, although pink has never been one of my favorite colors. A colorful kids’ bathroom in Brookline, MA. Be sure to add touches of color. It was a very pretty but very adult-looking bathroom. Make it fun, yet practical.
