Personally I love hand-molded, hand painted, terracotta tiles and I have seen so many images where they just look fabulous, but a traditional terracotta tile is not something that would look good in my swanky little contemporary monochromatic cool-colored condo and they are pricey considering the value of my property.

Often we see a decorative fire-safe paneling on the back and sides of the firebox, and sometimes we see what looks like a regular ceramic tile. Living Coral has been labelled a “sociable and spirited” colour, yet also “1980s napkin pink” which may be why it’s not looking to become a ceramic mainstay just yet. The shade ‘terracotta’ also gives a similar brightness comparable to Living Coral. Pratt & Lambert’s colour of the year – Earthen Trail.
