'I don''t usually do this.but I wanted to give you a sneak peak of the Lombard store remodel. The displays are not quite complete- and the photos are from the contractor.but I like the tile combos and it is some of our newer tile. I will take better photos when I go to Chicago next month!! Imperial Bianco 10 x 40 with smokey: Adoni with Moonlight glass: Ferrara Ivory with Nantucket Dune and the Multi cobble on the shower pan: The 5" Carrara hex.love this size!!

'The Seattle Times (photo credit above) ran a feature on the new Gates Foundation headquarters. My favorite element is the use of Jura limestone on the exterior. It’s a substantial stone that gives the building a real sense of permanence.

'We love when our customers share pictures of their tile installations! The Donaldsons, who emailed us pictures of their new kitchen backsplash today, chose 4x4 indian autumn slate and sealed it with TEC Ensealant Stone Enhancer. The sealant brought out the rich hues and shaded tones of the slate that a natural sealer would have otherwise subdued. Check out the heritage metal chair rail and the 4x4 heritage metal sagebrush accents that they scattered throughout the backsplash.

'Our tile was just featured in the last episode of Sweat Equity on the DIY Network. Looks like they made a basement into a workout room. Our tile was used on the fireplace- the Biltmore 3" x 6" with Aloe Glass 3" x 6". Not sure why there''s a fireplace in the workout room?? Maybe to sweat more??

'I just returned from a trip to Seattle and the San Juan Islands.this was my first time there! It was very beautiful and the islands are quite remote. 'You know you want it. Large tile mixed with small tile in, what appears to be, a random pattern. This customer wanted every aspect of his newly finished basement bar to be fun and fabulous. Attention to detail included the floor behind the bar, and he wanted a pattern with random sizes. Due to messy cocktails that somehow end up on the floor, he also required that it look like a natural slate, except in a no-maintenance porcelain tile.

'Just got back from the Vegas KBIS show.sad to report it was quite a dissappoinment!! I first started going to the show about 8 years ago, and it was fabulous. Over the past 3 or 4 years, however, it has gotten progressively smaller and the displays are definately not what they used to be. The Tile Shop got out of these trade shows a few years ago.seems like many other companies have done the same thing.

'Carl just sent me a photo of this beautiful marble floor from Vegas (not sure which hotel it''s in). It''s a Guilloche Pattern. A Guilloche is a pattern of interwoven strands, resembling rope, often used as a border in Roman mosaics. Typically two, three or five strands would be use in the Guilloche.
