I dont think its a lie on the part of the sales person who told you that, I think he or she was just parroting back the Home Depot party line. Most counter fabricators deal with natural stone, solid surface and quartz composites. Spend some time with Charlotte. Is this true, or what other counter top can be used?

3cm slab granite weighs between 18 and 20 pounds per square foot, depending on the density of the stone you have. Dropping it will destroy whatever it lands on, be that a floor or the feet of the people carrying the stone. Since its not a DIY project, one would think that a stone yard would take on a project like that.
