I came to the US from New Zealand in 2001 and worked as an industrial designer at IDEO for 8 years. When I was 17 I saw a book of industrial design renderings by the visual futurist Syd Mead, and I knew immediately that I wanted to design the future. When and why did you begin working with traditional artisans and handmade materials?
