We knew that the bulk of the main and upper floor air handling was contained in a low roof that we were “planning” to turn into an out-door deck. In the end it seemed that all parties came to a solution that would allow for an outdoor deck and a proper air supply. 1:45pm Bob and I were left to measure the house.

This is the project that I will be featuring as we go through the design, construction document, and construction process. On the right hand side of the image above is the master bedroom wing and deck. This space is functionally separated from the main house by an outdoor cooking area that is under a shared and connected roof.

In addition, we made the deck both bigger AND smaller at the same time (that’s the kind of architectural magic we perform at my office). We also redesigned the deck off the master bedroom so that there was a generous seating area available. We made the deck area here considerably larger and added a seating area.
