Mohawk to acquire Vitromex ceramic business

Calhoun, Ga.—Mohawk Industries said it has entered into an agreement to purchase the Vitromex ceramic tile business from Grupo Industrial Saltillo (GIS) for approximately $293 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2022, according to Mohawk, and is subject to the approval of GIS’s shareholders as well as customary government approvals and closing conditions.

Single-family home building growth slowing in large suburbs

Washington D.C.—New findings from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Home Building Geography Index (HBGI) show that the rate of year-over-year single-family construction growth in small and large metro urban, suburban and rural regional submarkets slowed in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same time period as last year, with notable deceleration in large suburban markets.
