Maggie studied, worked and made ceramics in UK, Italy, USA, Africa, and Japan but recently had been working and living in the place where she was born, Milnthorpe, Cumbria. It was back in 1983 that Kneale, with a £10,000 bank loan and four Spanish terracotta tiles, set up Fired Earth. Fired Earth’s HQ at Twyford Mill, Adderbury.

On the wall adjacent to the canal, there is a new tiled panel measuring 57metres by 3metres, that comprises 5,616 hand-painted tiles. Her work features unique textures and a very bright colour palette.
