The island of Kea in Greece seemed the perfect location to settle down and enjoy magical breezes serpent among olive trees. A sloped site and the beautifully simple terracing allowed architects to create different courtyards and open areas integrated in the volumetric architecture and terraced landscape.

Charming and mysterious at the same time, stone facades continue to be a widespread exterior design choice at a time when new construction materials are being developed at a fast pace. We love walking through cities and stumbling on a stone house that strikes us with its romantic appearance.

Dating as far back as ancient Greece and Rome, these garden/courtyard areas were common amongst both the wealthy palaces as well as the smaller village homes. Paving for seating areas and walkways could vary from gravel, stone, and concrete, providing it offered practicality, as well as splashes of color and variance in texture.
