This week, we thought we’d show you how to bring the look of Guatemalan cement tile into your own concrete tile installation project. The pattern, dominated by large-scale circles is a nod to the circles in the Guatemalan design.

Encaustic painting predates oil painting and was used to create portraits on mummy casings dating back to 100BC in Egypt. Here’s what I discovered: Encaustic tile is also referred to as cement tile, inlaid tile and hydraulic tile. The intricate patterns and designs of encaustic tile mimic the encaustic enameling process.
