Encaustic painting predates oil painting and was used to create portraits on mummy casings dating back to 100BC in Egypt. In the pursuit of all things tile, while on my trip to the Cevisama tile trade show with Tile Of Spain, I discovered something called “encaustic tile”. So what is encaustic tile?
