Glass tiles are often used for backsplashes —mosaic is a popular pattern. While ceramic tiles were sometimes used for countertops in older kitchens, they can crack easily and aren’t recommended. It’s best to stick with stone like granite, quartz, or marble for these surfaces and use ceramic tiles as a more affordable backsplash option.
