She went on to major in English at University of Michigan but also took in a full complement of art electives, like sculpture, printing, painting, drawing. . Tell us how your love affair with ceramics started. It wasn’t until my family and I visited British ceramist Rupert Spira , that I realized that ceramics was what I wanted to do.

This was delicious food that I have been trying to find in San Francisco with limited success—until I found Nido in Oakland, operated by Chef José Ramos and Silvia and Cory McCollow. Shipping container doors painted an orangey-red adorn the walls. Incredible! A few months ago, Chef Ramos came into the Heath showroom to look at plates.

You might remember the curiously melting ceramic “blobs” Brendan Monroe made last year at our LA Heath Clay Studio. The Oakland-based artist is back for round two with us, this time working in our SF Clay Studio for the past year to create all new work. Tell me about your process of working in both sculpture and drawing or painting.
