Looking back on 2017, it was a good year for tile and for Architectural Ceramics. Here is the Best of 2017, inspired by our annual corporate meeting instead of popular products and tile trends. Architectural Ceramics is without a doubt, a company full of characters. Puerto Rico suffered from Hurricane Maria this past year.

We have supplied our colorful cement tiles for residences and restaurants in Puerto Rica. Traditional floor designs made of cement tiles, “ Losa criolla ”(creole tile) or “ losa isleño ” (island tile), as they are called in Puerto Rico, are frequently laid out like a carpet or rug with a coordinating border just as an Oriental rug might.

Although their concrete tile coverage, which mostly focuses on new products, is limited, what they do spotlight is both beautiful and intriguing. Favoring well-designed products over mass-market, disposable goods, it’s no wonder that cement tiles are a mainstay of the richly-layered yet calm spaces that they feature.
