Natural stone is harvested from quarries and then cut to various sizes. Some examples of stone tile include marble, quartz, limestone, slate, and granite. Ceramic tile is made from red or white clay and is usually coated with a decorative glaze. Cement tiles are one of the most popular options for decorative areas.

Old-world trends have made a much-welcomed resurgence into the design world recently, and there’s one fan-favorite that is bringing its own contemporary twist: Terrazzo. Terrazzo, by historical definition, is a flooring material consisting of chips of marble or granite set in concrete and polished down to give a smooth surface.

Thassos, for example, is a white marble that has little variation because instead of veining, it has a crystallized appearance. Here, our Waverly mosaic features Thassos and Crema Marfil marbles. Notice that the white marble is clean and crisp throughout. Our Silver Stitch marble was used for the overall monochromatic look.
