What is encaustic painting? Encaustic painting involves beeswax, resin and pigments in varying combinations. One of my paintings, SurfAcing, 2014 12″X12″ Encaustic mixed media on wood boards. Encaustic painting predates oil painting and was used to create portraits on mummy casings dating back to 100BC in Egypt.

Cement Tiles Inspired by World Travels

Ceramic tiles first made an appearance in the ninth or tenth century BC, with cement tile arriving quite a bit later in the 1800s when hydraulic presses were invented and Portland cement was discovered.
