I dont think its a lie on the part of the sales person who told you that, I think he or she was just parroting back the Home Depot party line. Its a good thing the home depot doesn't sell Marble, otherwise they might be telling you that you can only use marble for different types of sinks due to marbles extremely high price-tag.
