Rarely do I see a fireplace using directional stone and one that is so bold. The gray and white marble, called Zephyr, is quarried in Turkey. Rather than just face the firebox with a ubiquitous stone, this installation shows how slabs have been layered for a simple but architectural installation.

Travertine is a Natural Stone as you know, but did you know most of it is filled with grout? From the US to Italy, Turkey, Croatia, and other places. This Natural stone has some of the traits of Marble Tile being very soft and can be difficult to work with because it is brittle. Nor would I suggest Marble.

Time to switch from “turkey talk” to tile! I was most impressed with the options they have for porcelain tile but there is also a large assortment of granite and marble slabs. It’s a natural semi-precious stone accented with silver! Hope you had a great holiday. Ronald at your service.
