After graduating with a degree in architecture from the University of Tokyo, Kengo Kuma completed a two-year postgraduate program as a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York, before returning to Tokyo to complete his Ph.D. Izaskun Chinchilla studied architecture at Madrid Polytechnic University’s School of Architecture.

On this trip, we were more interested in the architecture than the art, although we looked in the galleries as well. To accommodate the research library and academic direction of the museum as well as a growing audience of visitors, a new building was designed by the Dean of Architecture at MIT in 1973.
