This time last year, we featured a beach blog about AC’s Naturals Collection whose soft color palette and names are inspired by nature. Architectural Ceramics is at it again, this time with a focus on sea shells and mother of pearl as inspiration. The elongated hexagon mosaic is in the color Puka with an Iridescent finish.

The utility of tile in residential and commercial spaces provides a ubiquitous flora and fauna of shapes, texture, and color to the masses. For a contemporary look use colored glass tiles with clear glass shelves as shown in this installation by Alpentile out of Phoenix Arizona. Tile and installing it really is an art-form.

As a recent Art History graduate from Loyola Marymount University, the Arts of Islam became a favorite subject among the various cultures and styles I studied. These tiles were commonly used as floor and wall applications and to decorate mihrabs , the architectural niches in mosques. It is the mosaics of the 15th century C.E.

As a visual artist, graphic designer, paper lover and one who is obsessed with patterns and the production process, Guillermo began his art studies at UMASS Amherst in Boston.
