Last year, I traveled to Italy’s top tile expo, Cersaie, with a press delegation.

I recently attended Coverings, another major tile and stone show, in Las Vegas. There was even a handsome new teak option from Ceramics of Italy member Cerdisa. Oxidized stones came on strong this year. It was a very good expo, with some of my favorite American, Spanish and Italian manufacturers in attendance.

Here’s the trade group’s take on what’s hot for ceramic tile in 2018: Monochromatic. The interesting thing is that stone, metal and even cotto are finding great success in the planks formats. North America tends to favor planks in the 8×36″ size with upscale markets favoring the longer 48″ planks.

This week, we’re looking at 2016 tiles and trends from Ceramics of Italy, as this major trade organization of Italian tile brands showed off at the big Cersaie expo in Bologna. Cersaie is their big show! (I I attended two years ago myself, and hope to go again in the future.) The first post, last week, was from Spain.
