The use of a Gray colored Thinset can result in discoloration of the stone or the appearance of oily stains on the face of the stone. Yellowing may still happen in a shower area where mud work or wet bed has been done using Gray Portland cement. The availability of so many wonderful marbles.

Ceramic tiles first made an appearance in the ninth or tenth century BC, with cement tile arriving quite a bit later in the 1800s when hydraulic presses were invented and Portland cement was discovered. Zellige tiles are very traditional to this region and are made up of colorful mosaics. Firenze Tile. Cuban Tile.

Ask us about our Scraffito tile, handmade in Portland Oregon. This is an easy place to add color and texture to the room. Introduce calm colors. Too many bright and harsh colors can overwhelm the senses. While great at creating an energized and fun space, these colors may not be ideal for day-to-day. Love the wall?

Cement tiles are made by hand, one at a time, with a blend of Portland cement, regular grey cement, marble powder, fine sand and natural mineral color pigments. This blend is poured into a mold to create the pattern which represents the top colored surface layer.
