If there was ever a month that highlighted how up-and-down English weather can be, February 2019 was definitely it. The Pharaoh range of wall and floor tiles has a stone effect look inspired by ancient Egyptian buildings. We started the month with heavy snowfall and ended with a mini t-shirt weather heatwave!

Softer stones and ceramics are more likely to take a beating from the elements than durable materials like porcelain. Another thing to consider is the size of your tile and, by extension, how many grout joints you have. Grout joints add a rough texture and also allow for water to drain from the tops of floor tiles.

Joey and David hard at work grouting the tile panels for the BDNY booth. We worked hard, especially Joey and David who did last-minute grouting. What has the look of stone, does not stain and can be installed exterior in even the harshest environments? Love the green “stone” tabletops? Booth prep! It had a great payoff.

Seriously…All grouts are not created equal. More often than not, grout becomes an overlooked element within the tile installation process (why is that btw?). Grout is what seals everything together – literally. It’s kinda like the perfect marriage of tile and grout.

There are a wide variety of tiles which vary greatly in cost, from expensive natural stone tiles to affordable ceramic. Generally, larger tiles will make the space feel bigger and fewer grout lines make them easy to clean. Gone are the days where grout only comes in one colour. You can even match your tile and grout colours!
