The design of the project follows the lines of “coastal modernity”; according to the architects, the intention was to build a large pavilion-like retreat that blends with the surroundings.

Named for its split monolithic architectural form, Two Halves House is distinguished by two pavilions that appear to stand alone, but in fact live hand-in-hand. In the neighboring pavilion, the bedrooms and bathrooms were imagined like a series of cellular spaces that are “minimal in nature, yet intimate and cosy.”

The approach to the Williamsburg is Delancey Street, a pretty non-descript patch of well-traveled road that looks like the rest of the Lower East Side. That’s how the organ pavilion was rehabilitated some years ago.
