I recently stayed the the newly opened Chicago Athletic Association Hotel in Chicago (a Roman and Williams design). They were breathtaking; great colors, bold patterns, exquisite execution. Upon walking in the door, I was completely mesmerized by the original mosaics on the floor. And, they were in perfect condition.

I think one of my favorite parts of remodeling a kitchen is adding some WOW to the backsplash.Alot of times I am working on other parts of a clients house and I see a BORING backsplash and I talk them into adding some WOW like these. You can add this trim to crown moldings, decorative trim, baseboard, cabinet and backsplash, stair railings, recessed ceilings, etc. I am all for lighting spaces but I think I will need some time to warm up to the backsplash trim in the kitchen, what do you think? I have seen here some fresh designs they are so wonderful.

If I was going to redo a fireplace, I think I'd go with white painted brick (or painted brick in another color) and a more traditional look. Chicago painter.
