The hint of barn-colored red in the island adds a nice country touch, as well. If a wooden floor in your kitchen seems like too much , then maybe consider adding a flagstone floor throughout. Dark wood can seem too imposing for some smaller, dimly lit kitchens, so consider adding painted or bleached white wood instead.
