Tile and our Collective History One of the reasons I started Avente was my love of tile - both in the beauty of the hand painted design and the sense of place and time it conveys. The light hand painted blue and white strokes of a stylistic floral pattern on tile can have you dreaming about a centuries-old street corner in Portugal.

The Perfect Bath

As I continue to share images from The Perfect Bath, my plan is to include spaces large and small, especially the powder bath. The powder bath is probably one of the smallest rooms in the home. It is generally a more impactful statement when the entire space, floor to ceiling, is a bold color or a patterned wallpaper.

This tables made from reclaimed barn timbers and floor boards. I make it a point to keep an eye out for them though, and they tend to figure into my my photography when Im documenting farm life and local agriculture. That ancient wood gets reused as flooring, siding and in the case of my friend Kevins table, furniture.
