We have been talking about a gentle shift in bath design for about a year. I also noticed that when writing my book, The Perfect Bath , there were a number of photo submissions with colorful wallpapers and paint. For many years the tiny powder bath at the foot of the stairs in my house was painted white. on average.

To start, for the guest powder bath I have selected the Waterworks Compass pendant in unlacquered brass. The room is a very small bath squeezed around a very large chimney. I love the Compass light, especially in brass, and have decided that despite the bath’s diminutive size, mixing finishes was the thing to do.

Over time, I improved the flow of the space by moving certain things around: The pots went under the cooktop, the china shifted closer to the dishwasher, and the dry food and spices relocated to any available space that remained. I also exchanged the original Formica countertops for Danby marble.
