Tile is a popular choice for kitchen floors and backsplashes, so popular that even the priciest and most custom options can seem bland. One tile company is changing that, one beautifully unique tile at a time.

Gaudi in New York: A Broken Tile Mosaic Masterpiece in Riverside Park

Hi all, New York City abounds with mosaics of all kinds if you know where to look. On a walk through Riverside Park in the Upper West Side of Manhattan I came upon Grant''s Tomb near West 122nd and Riverside Drive. Wrapping around the big grey sandstone Greek temple looking mausoleum is a extensive broken tile mosaic bench. It must be more than one hundred yards long and is in the style of Barcelona architect Antoni Gaudi.

Tiled Stair Riser Design Picks

Tile Talk

By Bill Buyok , Avente Tile. Nothing adds more curb appeal, sense of personal style, and a real design punch than using decorative tiles on stair risers. Decorative tiles used on stair risers showcase personal style and add curb appeal. Tiles allow you to showcase your sense of style. However, most customers approach the use of tiled stair risers with caution. After finding a tile or two they love, I am used to being asked, "Can I do that?" or "Will that look OK?".

A Tile Tale Inspired by Life and Process: Meet Guy Mitchell

Kitchens for Living

Handmade products are one of the easiest ways to create an artful kitchen. In fact there was a whole turn of the century style devoted to that concept. The Arts and Crafts movement (1880-1910) was a reaction to the industrial age of machinery and mass production. Proponents felt that items crafted by human hands were imbued with a soulfulness that was lacking in factory produced goods.

The place is packed and even with a reservation, we found ourselves cooling our heels on the patio, drink in hand, waiting to be seated. Lucky for us!

Later, according to Malibu Adamson House Foundation (MAHF) records, “the Rindge family owned 17,000 acres and 20 miles of coastline.”

14 Creative Backsplash Ideas for your Kitchen

Freshome Design & Architecture Magazine

A kitchen can look finished without a backsplash, and sometimes a clean coat of (washable) paint is what best executes a design. But at the same time, there’s also an opportunity to use the space to anchor the overall design of the room. While countertops, flooring and cabinets are generally places to keep it simple, the backsplash is a good place to inject some personal style, whether that’s with a mosaic feature or a bold color.

How to Pick the Perfect Grout

Architectural Ceramics

Okay, so grout is NOT the most interesting thing to read about; however, it’s such an important part of design! I recently saw this awesome photo on Ella Scott Design’s Instagram page that had our 4” Calacatta Chablis Hexagon mosaic on the wall and penny round mosaic on the floor. The design was stunning, so obviously I inquired about it from our internal designer / salesperson.
